City became re-established as one of the Premier League’s leading sides following promotion as Division One Champions in 2002, but for many fans the story of the early 2000s was the emotional move from Maine Road to Eastlands in 2003. The move caused many to think of their relationship with the stadium and the club and emotions ran high. The first competitive game at the new stadium was a UEFA Cup tie, and since that moment fans have witnessed the full range of emotions associated with this Club.

I first went to watch a Manchester City game in the 1980’s, but my most memorable for personal reasons was this seasons UEFA Cup qualifier versus FC Midtjylland on 14th August. This is because it was the 1st match I was able to take my 3 children. 9 years, 5 years & nearly 2 years. My oldest had been with me a few times, he had even been to Maine Road with me. We lost 1-0 but I’ll never forget that night.

This was my first game i’d ever been to. a 2-0 win against Bradford City with paul dickov and Alfie Haaland with the goals. the atmoshphere at maine road that day was fantastic. there’s not a lot i can remember from that day as it was 8 years ago, but it was amazing and i’ve seen many more games since.

My girlfriend and I made it over for the last home game of the 2007/08 season VS Fulham, although the result didn’t go our way, we had a brilliant time, and I felt right at home in your City, we are due to fly over for the Arsenal game from Dublin, I can’t wait, come on the City…

My very first Manchester City Match i ever went to was against Sunderland on the 21st august 2003 at maine road. We won that game 3-0 in which one of city best players scored the last ever goal at maine road.
Loved that game
MARC-VIVIEN FOE was the player to score the last goal at maine road.
Later that year he tragically died playing for his beloved national team Cameroon.
Rest In Peace
Marc-Vivien Foe

As i walked out to the stadium it felt like i was a real player! The atmosphere was amazing. I wondered how amazing it would be to be playing on the pitch with such a great atmosphere!!
It was a great match but unfortunatly we lost
As i left the stadium i realised how emotional football was, i couldnt stand loseing and cried all the way home!

My first proper (first team) match, was against middlesbrough, on sunday october 7th 2007, who we beat 3-1. It was a fantastic first game of football, everything i wanted to see was there, flair, passion, goals. Elano became a god in those couple of weeks, scoring a fantastic free kick against newcastle before again scoring a great free kick against middlesbrough, to which luckily i caught on my digi-cam. It was the perfect day for me, and i have enjoyed many more since.

I don’t remember going to this game as it was a couple of months before my 3rd birthday but I have been to City games loads of times since and I love it, especially the pies! I remember I cried at the noise when Trevor Sinclair scored the first goal at my first Derby game in Jan ‘06 but by the end I was cheering like mad when we won 3 – 1!

This wasnt my first city game i watched but it was one of the most memorable, for one reason to fight from relelgation. It was against Newcastle and we had to win. All i remember from that game was how good our fans were. We won 1-0 and it was a tense game. The goal was made from a great cross by Nicolas Anelka, and Paulo Wanchope found the cross and headed in the back of the net. The croud were so good this game, fully behind the team. I remember the whistles the fans were making from around the ground towards the end of the game, deafening, it was so tense and when the full time whistle came, the feeling felt so great. On the way down the spiral walkway all me and my dad could here was ‘blue moon’ and ‘The best team in the land. The fan support was so good this day,as always. Through this win we put wolves down, and the blues stayed up.
