City became re-established as one of the Premier League’s leading sides following promotion as Division One Champions in 2002, but for many fans the story of the early 2000s was the emotional move from Maine Road to Eastlands in 2003. The move caused many to think of their relationship with the stadium and the club and emotions ran high. The first competitive game at the new stadium was a UEFA Cup tie, and since that moment fans have witnessed the full range of emotions associated with this Club.

I became a fan when I was young and City was lead by Bell, Francis etc, I saw City play twice on the road in 1976. However my family moved to Canada before I got a chance to see City play at home. On November 6/08 and Nov 9/08 my dream finally came true. I was visiting my dad for his birthday in Doncaster area when I went online and purchased the tickets for the games. When the game started and I looked around the stadium I shed a tear or 2, after all these years I finally got to see City play at home. What a thrill, after 45 years I finally see a City home game. When i returned back to Canada I told everyone about the games and the excitement in the stadium, the great fans, the singing, cheering..what a memory, a memory I will never forget. Can’t wait to come over again and take in another game…Long live City

My first game marked the beginning of life as an employee of the Club and watching the blues away to Aston Villa on opening day. Unfortunately the result was not in our favour and the last twenty minutes were very painful. We did well to get back in to it only to concede three goals in seven minutes.
The memory from the day was hearing Blue Moon ringing round Villa Park even in our hour of despair.
The best is yet to come.

Nov 6th 2003 I remember that night like it was yesterday, it was freezing walking up to the stadium with the rest of the supporter’s, you could here the chant of blue moon echoing around the stadium from outside, i couldn’t wait to get in, as i approached the turnstiles i remember getting butterflies in my stomach because the atmosphere was so loud and i was so exicited. I remember walking down the steps in to the best stadium on earth it was about 5 mins before kick off and the atmosphere was overwhelming. i could see all my heroes coming out onto the pitch like an army getting ready to do battle it was amazing. within the first minute’s fowler put reyna through on goal but his effort went sailing over the bar from about 6 yards out we were bombarding them attack after attack but my first live city goal didn’t take long in coming when anelka latched on to a through ball and chipped the on rushing keeper as he raced out of his goal. The stadium erupted i thought the roof was about to come off. I won’t forget that moment anelka milked the praise of the home fans and i was loving it. we had several chances after that but a whole host of them went begging atfer the first goal we missed chance after chance and you could just feel the polish side was going to make us pay because thay stared to come more and more into the the game as there confidence grew. and on about the 70th minute our worst fear came true they got a freekick on the edge of the box and there best player on the curled it into the top corner and there was nothing seaman could do 1 – 1 you could feel the dissapointment amongst the fans. chances were through and far between after that as it looked like both sides had settled for a draw. but what i liked the most, the crowd were still singing at the top of there voices trying to rally the team. the game came to an end and even though we drew i knew man city were the team for me. CITY TILL I DIE.

In 2002 i was asked to go to my first man city game with my friend and his mum and dad i was so excited i love man city and never had the chance to go before. We pkayed crewe in the worthignton cup and before we even entered the ground crewe were winning 1-0 they scored within the first 20 seconds, not how i wanted my first game to begin. at half time i was upset with being 1-0 down and i was freezin all i wanted was to see 1 goal. but in the second half we were a different team scoring 3 times in that half most memorable eyal berkovic strike from about 20yards out i was buzzin all the way home. i could not believe we won and the city fans were bringing the roof down the atmosphere was great. and from that day i have never forgotten. the only down side to this i went home asking my mum to get me a season ticket but i had to wait till 2007 to get my first ticket but it was worth the wait.

My first manchester city game, was a massive outrage. The weather was just right, the smell of city burgers roaming the air and the fans screamin and ranting…Before the game had even started ! Singing Blue moon, whilst tucking in to a nice cup of tea. Today was August 12th, 2006. The match was for the Thomas Cook trophy, i couldn’t wait to watch city rip F.C. Porto apart.
After a few minutes of everyone settling down, the players came out. The roars of the fans cheering Man City and the players soaking up the encouragement. Telling the fans to shout louder, whilst smiling and waving at every possible fan they could see. I got a wave from Bernardo Corradi and Reyna. I was thrilled!
Everyone was warming up and so was i, being prepared to cheer on the blues. First half came, we had Reyna as a captain for this match. I was stood up, excidetly waiting for the game to kick off. I looked around to see who was our goalie, and there was Weaver side-stepping from post to post, looking like a headless chicken, but making sure he was giving 100%.
For most of the game i was watching City rip F.C. Porto limb from limb, bone from bone with oustanding footwork, ball skills, communication and dribbling. I was so amazed at the magnificent performance given by the lads, but it was an amazing feeling, i was so happy. Suddenly ! out of no where F.C. Porto seemed to worm their way past our defence and score!
I was so schocked. In my head i was like ” What has just happened?! ” All the fans were gobsmacked! With The 6 F.C. Porto fans cheering, City’s fans seemed to just give evil looks at the happy opposing fans. All fell silent.
When the game was over, yes the opposition won, but should they of won? In my eyes the lads were the true winners, giving 110% effort i was so thrilled at the amazing performance. That everyone couldn’t help but clap the lads off the pitch.
That is my most amazing, memorable game.
Well done Lads!

My first game was an epic affair. Since I can remember I have wanted to come to a premiership game and this was it. Early on in the second half, now skipper Richard Dunne scored from a corner and we where of and playing brilliant football until they scored 2 in last 6 minutes and we lost. Me and me Dad where devistated, then all the games we have gone to since then, we hadn’t won a league game until Portsmouth this year. Think it was well worth the wait don’t you?

My first game as a City fan was the 3 nil win over Nots Forest on Saturday March 30, 2002. I’d been to watch City games before with my Dad but this game was the first where I was truely a blue. We managed to get tickets to the box an my Dad promised to buy me a shirt after the game. The atmosphere was amazing as it was almost a given that we were league champs and on our way back to where we belonged. A fantastic Huckerby hatrick saw us coast to a win and after thew game there was only one number I was getting on the back of my shirt…7

I have been a City fan all of my life, due to my dad being a season ticket holder. My first ever City game was at Maine road in 2002. I was about 11 years old and i remember that me and my sister were really excited and couldnt wait to get there. We went on a bus with a load of people, and we were singing the city songs all of the way there, all of us dressed in City shirts of course!! The match was City v Birmingham, and Maine road was packed. couldn’t have asked for a better first ever game really, as we won 6-0, 4 goals from Huckerby, one fron Goater and an own goal!!

We’d go to the pub and Dad would say do not tell your Mum. Then he’d put me on his shoulders at 2.45 and we’d walk to the ground full of excitement. He’d give me the season ticket and i’d fine the number usually wrong but he never tell me. I’d give the ticket to the man and we’d push our way through the turnstile how I loved that sound. We’d arrived. I had to say hello to the bird hanging from the rafters and then we cheer our team…
