My uncle Tony used to drive the GMT bus and so used to get a ticket for free, I was always mad keen on City and he took me along when I was 12 in Jan ‘81. FA Cup 3rd round, One of Johny Bonds first games, against the man he replaced Malcolm Allison’s Crystal Palace, grudge match or what, needless to say City triumphed and went on to lose to Spurs in one of the most memorable finals ever. We were in the side bit of the Kippax adjoining the Platt Lane stand and it was 85p at the turnstile. It was a fabulous 4-0 victory, the smell of the ale and the cigarette smoke, the noise of the crowd, the thrill of the game will stay with me forever, it was 28 years ago but I remember it like it was yesterday. I bought a Junior Blue season ticket for the next 2 years with my paper round money and have been going ever since. I love the Blues and you are the most special and loyal fans in England

I was 9 years old when I travelled to my first game with my two elder brothers. The whole trip for the three us came in for under a pound. We arrived at the ground before it opened and sat on the wall at the front of the Kippax. We lost the game 2-1 Franny Lee score a late consolation with a free kick for us. The next day we saw ourselves on the the granada big match programme.
When I was leaving Maine Road for the last time after the Southampton match by a strange quirk of fate Franny Lee was coming into the ground as I left!

i remember a game in 1956/7 Joe Hayes and Bobby Johnson both playing, the opposition was Aston villa,
As a child , i thought the pitch was blue as the pervailing smoke from 60 plus thousand Woodbines hung over the pitch like a winter’s mist.
I was safely placed at the back of the old Kippax whilst my uncle who had travelled from Birmingham to see his beloved Man City stood just in front.
The overiding memory was Bert Trautman threw the ball at the ref who was walking away from him… it tit the ref (laces down) on the back of the head knocked him off his feet…. and Bert was summarily dismissed…. we lost.
I was hooked…. it still hurts when we lose.

I caught a train to doncaster then one from doncaster to leeds and sor a man in a black stone island jacket with a man city shirt underneath so i prosumed he was going to the manchester city game so i asked him if he new were the next train to manchester from leeds is and he shown me i sat with him for the hole journey then when we got of at manchester piccadilly and headed towards to gregg’s fillled our selfs with a stake bake and then caught a taxi and headed of to city of manchester stadium when we arrived there i was just stood there with me phone taking pictures for like 5 minutes got me self a scarf and then got the ticket and headed in to the ground. On me way to doncaster sation earlier in the day i bought a fruit twist fanta drink a bottle of it and it was still un open at 3:00pm when the game kicked off after 24 minutes of the match my best player limped of the picth shaun wright-phillips and on came the unperforming vassell and then after 38 minutes bang !!!!! probably one of the best goals i have seen in me life nathan tyson with a vollley on the edge of the box 1-0 to nottingham forest then 4 minutes later stupid deffending from manchester city cost us a second goal has it hit the back of the net a women let out a scream and there we had it robert earnshaw 2-0 and a dissapointing first half at half time i started to get cold and the man i met at the train station went for a beer and i waited in my seat for him second half come and he never came back i was upset and felt lonely like i did when i left scunthorpe tarin station the second half begen me thinking after mark hughes would of had a word with them i was hoping for a jam packed second half full of excitement but then what could i say hamman thrown in throws it to no one at the edge of the manchester city box and gives garner a chance to run at the ball he does and he also finishes it in the 75th minute the nottingham forest fans was going barmy i was upset but i was also happy aty the experiance i got at the end of the day least i got to watch one of the best teams in the world play and that was manchester city the full time whistle went and the remaining man city fans unleashed a anormous BOOO !!!!! and then made there way to the turnstile’s ready to go home i stayed for about 2 minutes and watched the nottingham fans celebrate and took sme photo’s on i left the ground and took one more look at the stadium wondering will i be coming to this magnifecent ground again and to be honest this was not the first i had been to the manchester city stadium back in satuarday 7th of january 2006 manchester city played scunthorpe united and i was at that game i have a picture to show the ticket from that game i was in the scunthorpe united end with all the scunthorpe fans because scunthorpe is my home town and i always watch them but it has been me dream to come and see manchester city as well as scunthorpe they are my 2 teams what i love and the scunthorpe united game versus manchester city game at the city of manchester stadium on satuarday 7th january 2006 ended 3-1 to manchester city with robbie fowler man city’s hero because at half time the score was manchester city 0-1 scunthorpe united after a goal from andy keogh i went barmy but to this day onwards i say the first game i went to was the nottingham forest game at the age of 16 i have been to some amazing games west brom vs liverpool…grimsby vs scunthorpe… nottingham vs scunthorpe .. and in 2 10 days time i am going to the johnstone paint trophy final 2nd leg away at rotherham with scunthorpe having a 2-0 adventage could this mean my dreams of finally going to wembley can come true touch wood lets hope and at the end of this month leeds away for me

My first game was v Middlesborough on Feb 18 1950 when I was 8. The memory i have is of the 2 blonds – Bert Trautmann and their inside right Wilf Mannion. Mannion had a flying header saved by a diving Bert. last year I dicovered the date of this game as one of my mates was selling his programmes on Ebay (he’s a Oldham fan) and he told me he had and old 1950s City programme on sale. Lo and behold it was my first game so i made a very high bid and we pretended that we had done a deal and I have the programme – it cost 2 pence! I have tried to upload a photo of the programme but it says it’s too big a file. It says of Mannion that “he is one of the finest inside forwards in football today”. We were next to bottom of the League with the rags next to the top and an article in the Evening Chronicle by Frank Swift was headlined “Footballers cannot play and work”
