It wasnt my first game, but the last ever game at Maine Road is my greatest memory. An unbroken sea of scarfs. We lost 0-1 that day, but I floated home that day knowing City, no matter where we played i would be there I still have my ticket, programme and even the half time draw ticket BLUE LOVE FOR EVER.

I was 8 and I begged my dad to take me to what i thought was the best team in the land of all the world. I couldn’t sleep the night before I was that excited. We got to the ground and I could feel the buzz. I was lucky enough to see the Blues win, but i also saw Darren Huckerby score a hat-rick. From that day on, i was a True Blue, and have a season ticket in the Family Stand.

I think it was 2002, anyway i went with my uncle and brother and it was freezing, and we faced crewe, and won 3-2 and got back at about 11:00pm!

Although having always professed to being a newcastle fan in my younger years i had never actually been to a football match. My new neighbour who was and still is an ardant blues fan had managed to get me 2 tickets for the game against Barnsley at Maine Road, after initially being dubious about the trip, having heard scary stories of travelling into the heart of Mosside, me and my mate finally got onto the coach. When we arrived in Manchester, the stadium was bigger than i could have ever imagined, dominating the skyline. Even people who were nto going to the match were stood on their door steps cheering us on with shouts of “come on City” and other such inspiring chants, the sense of the support city had was already taking me aback, and that was nothing compared to the noise when the teams walked out onto the pitch. As for the game, could i have asked for a better game? 5 fantastic goals, and the first division championship secured! I have not looked back since, and get to see the Blues at EVERY oppertunity.

After moving north with work from the south coast in june 2001 I was made to feel very welcome by friends who took me to Maine Road before the end of that era. I saw Chelsea beat City 3-0 which felt like a good introduction to following city at the time.
We were some of the last people left in the ground but it had been my first premiership match ever and even though City were beaten I knew I would from that point on hold a candle for them and adopted them as my new home town team!
I now regularly take my eldest son who is now confirmed true blue with his mates at school, a very relieved father that he doesn’t support the other team.

my best memory was when man city played their last ever game at maine road, we played Southampton who got into the FA cup final that season and although city got beat i still enjoyed it because there was a great buzz and atmosphere seeing all the former players like Bert Trautman, colin Bell and Shaun goater captaining the team for his final game at the club Long live the memories of maine road
