My first City game was not actually as a City fan. I’m from north London and would go and watch various games around the capital as I didn’t have a team, but would usually go to Arsenal as most of my friends supported them. It was the season after Arsenal had won the league in the last minute at Anfield, so games were predictably packed. When City visited, we couldn’t get into the North Bank or the home section of the Clock End, so decided to go in with the Blues fans. City had only recently beaten United 5-1 at Maine Road and it appeared that the after-effects of that game weren’t going to disappear quickly. City were played off the park and trounced 4-0, but the atmosphere in the away end at Highbury that day wasn’t defeatist, dejected or downhearted. Chants of “0-4, 0-4, 0-4″ resounded around an emptying Highbury after the game and I don’t think there was a single fan in that section who hadn’t roared themselves hoarse throughout the entire match. It was at that point that I realised I’d finally found the club for me. 24 years on, I’ve regretted that decision countless times, but have never lost my love for City or the fans. A lot of people will say it was seeing Bell score a winner at Maine Road; Kinki weaving past six defenders before slotting it home, or the Goat hammering United that is the game that they first saw and will always remember, but for me it was a 4-0 defeat to the Champions and the passion and reaction of the fans that means I will always be a cockney Blue.

I remember very little of my first game, I have no idea who we played, I don’t know the date, all I know is that I met the first real love of my life. He had speed, he had style, he had the best haircut I’d ever seen. Ignoring the more glamorous players, I instantly adored David White. Having asked my dad if he was married, I ran down to the tunnel to meet him. I was 4. My love for David White passed, but not for City. I’ve been a season ticket holder ever since.

I was 16 and just started earning my own money, i’d never had the money to go until then. We were playing Derby County and i remember the buzz from just walking from the A6, down Dickinson Road and Claremont Road, hearing the fans before i could see Maine Road. Feeling the atmosphere building as i walked up the steps to emerge at the back of the old Kippax. Niall Quinn scored early in the game and it was him that replaced Tony Coton in goal after he brought down Saunders. Quinny saved Saunders penalty and to me became an idol in that moment. We won 2-1 and Derby were relegated on that result.

My first game was Manchester City vs Queens Park Rangers at Maine Road when I was 14 years old

My family had travelled to Manchester from Aberdeen
We had been season ticket holders at Pittodrie and enjoyed a succesful period of football under Sir Alex Ferguson – we all loved football but had never experienced a live English football match.

I had never followed Engish football much but as massive football fans my Dad and I decided to take in some matches when we were in Manchester

It was the first live Premier League game on Sky TV (BSkyB) and was on the 17th of August 1992

A buzzing Maine road was the host for Skys first outing with us playing Queens Park Rangers, David White giving us the lead before half time.
This also gave him the honour of being the first Goal For Manchester City In The Premier League
It finished 1-1 with QPR equalising after halftime through Andy Sinton with a strike from outside the box.

It was a great game with Keith Curle, Paul Lake, Steve McMahon and Niall Quinn all playing well; something blue was born in my blood that night!

Oddly it wasn’t only the football that made me become a City fan as for long spells of the match we were outplayed by QPR who looked dangerous with Darren Peacock dominant in the air

it was the fans, we were really loud and I remember bouncing up and down and the singing throughout the game

I’ll always remember there was lots of entertainment with Sky Strikers cheerleaders, a skydiving & parachute display and live music at half time – I had never seen anything like this before.

To make the week even better we went to old trafford on the Wednesday night and watched Everton beat them 3v0 in front of very quiet United supporters
Goals from Beardsley and Mo Johnstone against a United team including Ryan Giggs, Darren Ferguson and Mark Hughes

I travel down from Aberdeen every other week and have a season ticket in the Colin Bell stand Tier 2 – looking forward to many more great games this season and appreciate the effort our new owners have been making

I have to thank my Dad and the atmosphere on the terraces that night for me being a blue.

april 27 1996 vs aston villa won game 1-0. my first ever football game my dad took me and i was 7 years old. i remember my dad trying to learn me all the words to the songs for years and when i was at the game i just couldnt wait for the first song to start out. it was the best experiance ever eventually being there watching it live instead of on the tv, first half of the game went by and even though we hadnt scored i still had a smile on my face like a cheshire cat. it was so great seeing the players live. anyhow second half of the game started and all the stadium broke into an all mighty song of joy for manchester city. well we did get a score thankfully as thats what i really wanted to see. i jumped up of my seat and my dad lifted me up so i could see the all the players celebrating the goal. i looked about and all the fans faces were lit up with joy i had never seen so much love for something in facial expresions befor ethis minute. when i got home from the game i couldnt stop talking about it for weeks to everyone. infact i went on that much my dad told me if i didnt mention it for one week he would take me to another next week so i did and we certainly went again. im 21 now and still cant get enough ive been to so many games since then and this oppurtunity would mean alot.
