My first City game was on the 21st August 1999, City against Sheffield United at Maine Road.
My parents lived in Levenshulme for about 15 years, my brother and two sisters were actually born there. Eventually they moved back to Ireland in 1985. I was brought up with the whole family supporting City and so I had to tow the line as well.
My parents hadn’t seen Manchester since they left in 1985 but in the summer of 1999 they decided to take me there for a holiday. I was only 12 and we stayed with friends of my parents on Hornbeam Road.
The first Saturday we were there me and my Dad took the short walk to Maine Road via Platt Lane. When we got there, all I could see was blue and when we took our seats in the Main Stand it didnt change much, blue everywhere. Looking up at the Kippax and watching Moonchester along the line, it was amazing to actually be there.
There was such a buzz of watching the team I had supported for all my childhood, through thick and thin (typical City). City rattled in no less than 6 that day and completely hammered the Blades. Horlock (2), Goater, Kennedy, Taylor and Dickov all scored.
I remember my Dad saying, “I’ve waited since 1985 to see City again and they do that… amazing”.
And then I remember thinking,”why would anyone want to support anyone else apart from City?”

My first game was City vs. Sheffield United at Maine Road (21st August 1999). We won 6-0. Being a girl, I’d never been encouraged to enjoy football previously. What happened was, my dad had taken my brother to three games but he never showed an interest (he was more interested in the crowd!) So, the next game, my dad asks my brother: “Do you want to come to the match?”
My brother (jus seven years old) replies: “Will there be smoking and swearing?”
Dad: “Probably, yes.”
My brother decided he was didn’t like that and declined. So, eight years old and as girly as could be, I piped up: “Dad, can I come?”
With a look of slight confusion and surprise on his face, he said I could and duly snuck me into Maine Road for my first ever game.
City had just been promoted and this was one of the first home games of the new season.
City won two penalties and Horlock scored them both. From then on, it was cruise control and we went on to score four more (Kennedy, Goater, G. Taylor and Paul Dickov).
That day was the day that would change my life forever – and not always for the better!
Now, here am, ten years later and I’ve never looked back.
I know I am, I’m sure I am. I’m City ’til I die.

A memorable day for all city fans which grasped the hearts of everyone present at the old Wembley stadium. I was 12 years old with my uncle K*ob Head and we were on our way out of the stadium as Gilingham scored their second goal….. that was until Kevin Horlock scored what seemed to be a consolation…..surely we couldnt pull this back with the 2 minutes of time remaining???
OOOOOOOOHHHH YESSSSS, YOU BEAUTYYYYY as my uncle fell down the stairs after jumping in delight! Paul dickov to the rescue!!!
The scene was set for a wonderful penalty shootout and citys saviour Nicky Weaver ran a short marathon before being mauled by his jubilant team mates!!!!
I know we havent won much for a while but ur always sure City will bring a bit of excitement into your life!!

My first man city game was when i was aged seven and it was against Northampton. I can remember being in the Kippax and because we was that high up i felt sick!!
The game was a 0-0 and i think it was michael brown who was closest to scoring but his long range shot ws well saved!!
Also in that season i managed to get Wembley tickets and went to watch the mighty blues beat Gillingham on penalties!!!!!

My first City game was at Wembley stadium in May 1999. I remember it being so close to the end and being 0-0. With about ten minutes to go Gillingham snatched two goals. In the last two minutes of the game Paul Dickov and Kevin Horlock snatched two back for us. Stood behind the goal where the penalties would be taken. Then it was all a blur until the last penalty, where if they missed we would be promoted. Nicky Weaver refused him. He ran round the whole pitch, cartwheeling. Now I’m City Till I Die!!!

My First game was actually the Play-off Final against Gillingham.
I rarely got a chance to go to a game back then and decided this was a must see game. This was the best game I had ever been to as it was a whirlwind of emotion, the highs and lows.
Coming back from 2-0 down to equalise in the dying seconds with Dickov’s stunning strike. The nail-biting tension of the penalty shootout and the passion of all my fellow City fans around me.
That game showed me what I had been missing all those years and now go to as many games as I can..

i remember setting off with my dad on the long coach ride down to london to watch city v gillingham in the division 2 playoff final. i was looking forward to walking up the world famous wembley way but the driver took a wrong turning so i never got the chance. we were two nil down after 90 mins so we left the ground, we were in the coach park when we got a phone call saying that weve equalized so we rushed back in to the ground. it went to penalties and nicky weaver saved the deciding penalty from that day on i said i wanted to be just like him. that is how my football started i am now a goalkeeper hoping to one day be like weaver and save a penalty at wembley just like he did the day i was there.
