Like many others i cant remember what game it was, but my best memory of my first mcfc game was at maine road and i remember walking down platt lane hearing all the fans singing and discussing the the match predictions whilst walking to the ground. I remember my first look at maine road i was astonished, The size and the atmosphere of the ground was great. I think it was a cup game and Mark Kennedy was on top form, the game was a high score and a good win for the blues, and Kennedy contributing to the score line. after each goal went in i remember cheering and spilling the bottle of coke my dad got me all over my tatty worn out blue shirt i used to adored ! ever since that day ive been to evey mcfc home game and looking at the fun ive had in the past with manchester city, i cant wait for the future !!

I have supported Manchester City since I was 5 years old. I wanted to support a team with blue shirts and when going through my brothers sticker album I liked Niall Quinn’s haircut…
I grew up in Cambridge which made the supporting the team really hard at the time (thank god for teletext!) but moved up towards Manchester when I was 14 which allowed me to begin selling counterfeit T-Shirts outside the ground. With the money i earned I was able to afford a ticket to watch us play!
The first game I saw was against Luton away and I was sitting in the City end. I remember being amazed at how many Manchester City supporters there were… I had never seen so many all at once and at the time there was only 5 other City in my secondary school in Cambridge!
It was incredible and we have come a long way since then which still makes me proud to be part of this football club.
We drew that particular game 1:1 with Andy Morrison scoring!

My first City game was the opening day of the 1998/99 season against Blackpool. I was 7 years old and using my brand new season ticket for the very first time in my life, very excited that I was actually going to see the team I had followed all of my life. It was Nicky Weaver’s debut for the Blues, and he put on a characteristic show of good stops to prevent Blackpool scoring. City eventually went on to win 3-0 and the pure excitemnet of the day, the stadium, the players, the rush of scoring a goal, hooked me to Manchester City Football Club for life.

As a favour to a friend, I agreed to tag along to Manchester City v Blackpool which was the first Match in City’s first season in the 3rd tier of English Football. I only vaguely attached myself to the Club at the time so attending was more a chance to watch Football in the sunshine over anything else. City ran out 3-0 winners and I couldn’t think of a reason to not attend again. I’ve never looked back. Anything else happening on top is a bonus as far as I see it.

My first city match, i remember it well, the game itself wasn’t the highlight but what happened before then, i was walking with my dad to maine raod when i walked into a iron bin, winded me but i think i jinxed the game because the final score was 7-1 to city, so we decided that i must bump into an iron bin before kickoff every match.

My dad took me to this game as my first match (I was 6 at the time). I had no idea who Ian Brightwell was and I was more interested in the stadium and the blue seats than the match. Ian came over to sign autographs at the end and my dad ran over the seats to get my programme signed. Little did I know what my dad was getting me into. I’m now a Season Ticket holder and can’t imagine a day when I won’t be!!

My 1st city game was West Ham at home in the FA Cup. It was really fun; however, City lost 1-2, but I saw a amazing goal from Georgi Kinkladze.

To see my one and only game at Maine Road, it was 1998 and City lost to Boro…thus condeming City to Division 2. Oddly enough my biggest memory of this game is an own goal scored by Jamie Pollack where an attempted header back to the keeper ended up in City’s net. Pollack’s head was down as he walked back to center but then the fans started singing and the players immediately lifted their heads and got right back into the game. Although City ended up losing the game, that very moment only reenforced what I already knew….nothing beats being a City fan. Now 10 years later I will be at Eastlands to see the Manchester derby as well as the UEFA Cup game against PSG, hopefully the results will change from what I witnessed in the past.
