My first game was in October 1998 at home to Reading. I was a relative late comer to the wonderful world of city as I was 22 at the time, however my Mancunian friends were all blues and talked me in to going to a game.
I remember the weather being typically Mancunian and we were all soaked before we got to our seats in the North Stand, I remember looking out across the pitch and scanning across to the kippax and feeling fairly overwhelmed by the size of it all. The match itself was fairly typical second division fair, with long balls aplenty and no real skill insight as Reading left Manchester with all three points after a dismal 1-0 win. Not to be dis-heartened by this I went back home feeling like I had found my footballing home, the atmosphere in the North stand that day was electric and going to the bar at half time was an experience in itself, there must have been 700 lads jumping up and down and singing their hearts out, I thought it was brilliant and I’ve never looked back since. Up the Blues.

My first city game was against Reading in old money division one at Maine Road. City lost 1-0, with Danny Tiatto seeing red for two yellows. It must have inspired me somehow, because I am now a seasoncard holder who plans to see both derby’s this year!

It was against West Brom in 1998, i seem to remember. I was sat in the North Stand, and badgered my dad to take me to the toilet. He kept replying ‘In a minute, we’re going to score soon’ after at least 3 agonising minutes, he relented and we travelled down to hear the roar of the crowd. Uwe Rosler had scored, 1-0 and thats how it remained. At the end, i saw Uwe wave to the crowd, and in my innocence asked my father whether he knew it was my first game. My dad replied ‘Yeah, wave back’…I did and was hooked ever since.

As a child of 4, things were hard to understand, but City pointed me to the intelligent side of life. City showed me that there we are on the Earth for a reason. And for this, I will show City the love they gave me forever. My first view inside the ground was in the Kippax stand, and it just looked amazing. The first goal I saw was scored by Danny Allsop and I’ve never forgotten the man. Just to feel like part of a family inside the ground was all that mattered to me, and even if had lost the game, I would still have loved every second of it.

This was my first game, i was 6 years old and i was sat in the main stand at the beautiful Maine Road. Brian Gunn was their star player, and he pulled off some stunning saves to keep them in with a shout, but city pulled through 3-1 winners with Uwe Rosler scoring along with Geo Kinkladze. I can still remember this like it was yesterday and ever since i have been a loyal fan. I now have a season ticket in the south stand and go to most away games.

Saturday, February 21st 1998, on a cold but sunny afternoon in Swindon: I was 14 years old and my Dad decided to take me to my first City game, which I’d longed to do for a while but City didn’t visit the South West very often!
We drove up from Exmouth with a Cornish pasty on the engine to heat it up (they got hot in those days) and had a bitter shandy before kick-off. Being just prior to relegation to the 2nd Division and the departure of my first hero, Georgiou Kinkladze, didn’t matter. I got to see, after 20 minutes, Kinkladze whip in a wonderful corner from 5 yards away, the goal belted in by Uwe Rosler! It was magic.
They equalised in the 2nd half, but an untypically unnerved City scored two more for a 3-1 win! There were some great chants too, Swindon fans singing “going down, going down, going down,…”, with us replying “so are we, so are we, so are we,…”. We’d beaten them 6-0 at Maine Road earlier in the season too, so “we want 10!” was shouted towards the end as we passed the ball around with a swagger. Fantastic day! My girlfriend is from Macedonia, and City are on TV there pretty often – she never misses a game! There really is something about this club.
