I remember sitting on the concrete stairs at the family stand at a young age with my whole man city kit on watching Paul Walsh, Beagrie, Rosler…and thinking I would not want to be anywhere else. I still get that feeling every match day.

My first ever City game was away at Stoke. I was on the way to a town & country festival at Kenilworth for August bank Holiday weekend and City were away at Stoke on the Saturday so I thought I might as well nip in on the way down the M6. Things did not start well as my car was vandalised the night before so I had to get to the scrappers 1st thing to get a wing mirror and rear light cluster. Whilst climbing through the scrapped cars I got covered in dog muck so I had to drive back home in my boxers. I fixed the car, packed up, flew down the M6 and got there 10 mins after kick off. The ground was packed and the city faithful were not happy with Alan Ball as we got beat 2-1, and subsequently he got the sack come bank holiday morning. Also making his debut for City that day was a little striker called Paul Dickov following a 1m move from Arsenal and who’d have thought he’d have been so instrumental in City’s history.

My first game was around 1995/1996 season when players like Gio Kinkladze & Uwe Rostler were City’s most valued & best players at the time. I just remember the most intense & exciting time of my life, it’s just hard to explain the feeling. I was only young I was sat in the kippax but had to stand on my seat the whole match just to see over the people in front of me! I enjoyed every last minute from the pie at half time, to my fave player at the time Kinkladze scoring a penalty & falling off my chair when they scored to celebrate haha! awesome times.

As it was a midweek game I remember my day at school felt like it was lasting a lifetime.
I had mithered my brother for 5 years to take me to a game until he finally gave in – I pressume just to keep me quiet.
I’ve never forgot the feeling I had when I saw Maine Road for the first time without it being on Television.
It was a weird atmosphere as it was Asa Hartfords first game in charge after Alan Ball had left the club.
Charlton were bottom of the division and I think we were around mid table after a poor start to the season.
Inevitibly Charlton took the lead and I had this unbelievable feeling of disapointment that over the years ive got used to.
The fans were unhappy and restless and I wondered what on earth I was letting myself in for.
Then not long from the end we got a penalty …. my hero Uwe Rosler stepped up …. and blasted it in ……. I lept out of my seat, the joy all around was amazing.
Then we won a free kick on the edge of the box, substitute Gerry Creaney stepped up and …… curled it in …… utter elation. City had been poor but I went home happy feeling that something special had happened that night.
My brother summed it up perfectly he looked down at me and uttered the immortal words …. you can come again.

My first city match was against Ipswich Town, Friday 16th August 1996, i was 7 and Ipswich Town was also my dads first game. His was Saturday 28th February 1970. Coincidently both matches ended 1-0 with the scorer of my match being Lomas and his was Lee. Ill never forget the intensity of our fantastic support when i stepped out, a true fan knows their home when they see their team even so young…

My first ever match was back in 1996 at Maine Road when we were at home to Southampton, I think it was early March if I can remember! The first magic moment was when Gio side-stepped a defender and unleashed a dipping drive which beat Beasant and crashed against the crossbar, it wasnt long though before Kinky was on the scoresheet though to make it 1-0 as I danced around thinking this is amazing at the age of 8. Literally 2 minutes later, I saw Kinkladze go on one of the most amazing runs ever in the world of football and chip the keeper from yards out, Beasant I think it was!! So there it was 2-0 at HT . Southampton came out with a fight though and pulled one back to make it 2-1! There it was 2-1 FT, the most amazing day of my life!!

I walked through the turnstiles with my dad and his friend for the first ever time, i had a look around and heard the noise of thousands of Man city fans singing. My dad said have a run up those steps, I had no idea what i was to expect, I ran up and i cant describe the feeling. It was unreal, i was smack bang in the centre of the ground in the Kippax.
My jaw dropped and that game was the same game Kinkladze scored that wonder goal against Southampton, although i missed it because everyone stood up and i was only little, so by the time i stood on my seat to view what was happening, the goal had been scored and i nearly fell off the seat because of the roar.

At just five years old I was taken to my first ever Manchester City game, which saw the blues take on Southampton. I dont remember much of the game, only Georgie Kingladze’s wonder goal when he took on the whole southampton defence and converted one of the best goals I have ever seen as a blue. I have been A season ticket holder ever since

My first City game was like my first cigarette. Unpleasant, bewildering, forbidden by my family and most definitely not good for my health, but I could never be without them again!
At home to Ipswich in August 1996 we won 1 nil and the football was poor. Apart from a 25th minute Lomas goal nothing much happened to encourage the 29,000 in attendance…as if they needed it! The Maine Road atmosphere was electric, the numbers were high following relegation and the songs were flowing and humorous – the pitch was as green as anything I had ever seen in my life!
Forget trophies, superstars, Panini Cards and hat-tricks this was real life. Id made 29,000 friends in one day and I couldnt wait to meet up again! I wouldnt have swapped places with anyone in the whole world that day. Its now 12 years on and if your anything like me… I’ll be seeing you at weekend! Come on City!!!
