I’m Canadian and a huge supporter of Man City. While I was there, I went to my first City game…it was unlike anything I’d ever experienced; the passion and devotion of the fans was incredible, the atmosphere and the mood kept you pumped and alive for whatever happened next. The players were amazing, giving everything they had into the game, but as much as they make it, the fans make it just as much. It was better than any sports game you can go to in Canada. City fans are by the far the best! and I can say that from a first hand experience.

Against Leeds United on a cold February Saturday afternoon, I get picked up by my Child-minder’s sons for my first game (although my Dad would have liked to have had the honour!). Wrapped up in a blue scarf and barely 7, I was stood in the middle of the Kippax and saw no goals in the 0-0, but I distinctly remember a certain Terry Phelan tearing down the wing. We were unlucky to take only the one point. “We’ve got that Terry Phelan…”

For my 9th birthday my dad bought me tickets for city’s home game against chelsea in the 1995-96 season. I sat in the main stand and as i walked up the steps upto the seating, ive never felt anything like it in mylife. the ground was bubbling, and seeing the famous kippax for the first time was breath taking. City lost 1-0 to a spencer goal from outside the box. the result didnt matter though, i had seen my team, sang blue moon, and become city til i die. lovethe blues through thick and thin!!! thats what makes a city fan. their special

Apart from the spectacular view of the pitch and players,my biggest memory of my first game was in the pre match warm up. Ruud Gullit (then at Chelsea) kicked the ball into the crowd, the result it smacking me in the face! I was around 10 at the time.To make matters worse,City lost 2-1. Gaudino had put us 1-0 up after three minutes! I still loved it and i’ve been going ever since! I also remember the new Kippax stand only being half built at the time too.

My first trip to Maine Road coincided with my 10th birthday in 1995. My dad is a diehard Leeds fan so that game was the obvious choice. My mother and sister came along for the trip with the intention of enjoying some retail therapy while we took in the game.
The day before the match we were in the club shop at the ground when to my shock the entire first team pulled up to the ground after a light training session. I got to meet all my heroes – Quinn, Rosler, Beagrie, Kernaghan, Simpson, Summerbee etc. The pictures are still on my bedroom wall to this day.
We also bumped into club legend Bernard Halford and got talking. Upon hearing that my mother and sister didn’t have tickets for the game he promptly disappeared, returning a few minutes later with two complementaries for them. That made an instant impression on me and typifies what sort of club City is.
The match itself wasn’t anything spectacular, finishing in a 0-0 draw, but I was captivated by the whole thing and couldn’t wait to make a return trip.
I have visited Manchester many times since and City mean more to me than pretty much anything else. Thanks City for all the memories, both good and bad. Here’s to many more.
City til I die.

Away at Everton 1995. Lost 2-0. Can’t remember much as I was only 3.
Once a blue. Always a blue.

I was 6 if I recall correctly. My brother would have been 14 or 15 at the time. My dad had stopped him from going to the matches (there were lots of stabbings at the time) and one day when he asked if he could go, my father decided that if he was taking care of younger brither-he would not get into trouble.
I remember getting to a shop near main road and being given a packet of crown crisps (Cheese and onion of course) and a Beano. I was told to sit on a stump and the team would be out soon. My elder brother was just going to catch up with his friends and come back soon.
I thought city played on the grass I was looking at in front of me-when in reality I was sat on wasteground in the middle of moss side.
Now what seems like an eternity passed and my brother returned. He took me down to Maine Road and I remember being amazed at the size of the ground, crowd-just everything was hard to comprehend as I was certain that MCFC would be trotting out on a small piece of wasteground in Moss side only minutes ago.
Having no concept of time at that age-I still think to this day that my brother brought me in at half time-although to he denies that, saying I was sat on the wasteground for literally minutes. Which ever way it was, I believe he brought me in at a cheaper price halfway through the match and pocketed the change from my dad.
I have followed City ever since.

My Dad had got us into a box at Maine Road for my 5th birthday and although I was very young, it was so memorable. I remember being given a signed ball by the team and when we were eating our meals, the legend that is Mike Summerbee walked in to meet us, and I also remember he kept pinching my chips!! I also remember sitting in our seats about an hour after the game and seeing Garry Flitcroft leaving the ground, we shouted to him and he waved back at us! 1-1 wasn’t the greatest result in the world, but it was of my greatest days, City ‘Til I Die!!

My first ever City match was at Goodison Park, we drew 1-1. Mauritzio Gaudino scored for us, Terry Phelan got sent off and David Unsworth scored a late penalty for them to help them gain a point. I don’t know if it was watching the likes of Niall Quinn and Uwe Rosler warming up before the game, or the infectious atmosphere within the away contingency…but I was instantly smitten. City are like a drug to me, like having a deranged boyfriend that drives you crazy but you cannot help but love him…I just couldn’t help falling in love with blue. I’ve never looked backed and will ever have any regrets at where my love and loyalty lies. City Til I Die!
