Ok So My First game you could say i was looking to be a glory hunter? Nah, this is City after all, i Was 14 at the time, followed city since i was about 4 through my uncles doing! And My Cousin Took him down with him and his mate, i didnt find out til the saturday night and did not sleep one bit as we were on the 6am train the next morning, I Remember the day well, From going down on the train, to getting ab black cab across London! to walking doiwn the old wembeley way, Still got my old Program And Scarf from that day to this, I Seem to remember Paul Power Being my hero at the time along with the likes of Andy May, Paul Simpson & Neil McNab, And How ironic that my First Game Wacthing City Was a Rollorcoaster itself? 5-1 Down With Around 4 Minutes to go, and we end up losing 5-4, Well that was me hook line and sinker, 22 Years Later And there i still City, The thing with being a city fan is, You Don’t choose them, They Choose you, And I Would not change a thing, Blue Blood Through and Through, Just remember Fellow Blues, City’s for life, Not just for Glory Years!

It was 1986 and I can’t even remember who we were playing. It was a night game, I remember that much, it was bloody cold and I was sat with my family on those nice benches in Platt Lane. The atmosphere and look of the place with the floodlights on in the drizzle was magical.
I don’t even remember the result but I assume we lost because the only thing I do remember was that my Mum brought me a lovely ginger bread man for half time.

I was 10 years old and had been waiting patiently for about 18 months for my brother, who is 9 years older, to take me to my first match. Parking at the Fallowfield end of Yew Tree Rd, we walked up towards Maine Rd. Call it what you will, but the ‘enthusiastic’ nature of some football followers at this time just made the experience a little more edgy – the atmosphere, even against Coventry, was bubbling under, although from what I can recall there was no trouble. ‘Shall we get him a Programme?’ asked my brothers mate, and all the lads concurred this would be a good idea. Not knowing what a ‘programme’ was, I remember feeling a little deflated when I was handed a small A5 colour pamphlet. However it did have the mighty Mick McCarthy on the cover. The thing I really remember is how, amongst the modest terraced houses, sprung the mighty Kippax. As I paid my 50p, I pushed the heavy-duty turnstyle which appeared to be trying to resist my entry into a lifetime of broken dreams. I was in. Climbing to the top of the concrete steps and taking in that first view at the top of the Kippax, the pitch looked smaller, but the ground more majestic than anything I had seen. We lost 1-0.

My first game and realisation of the City passion happened at Maine Road around 1986 v’s Norwich… I can’t remember the score but the atmosphere was unforgetable with Uwe Roslers name being chanted, rumbling, from the stands!!! “Hooray, Uwe Rosler… Hooray, Uwe Rosler” Another City Fan was born!!!
