March 1st 1972 My Dad took myself & my brother to Maine road to watch city v WestBrom, it was a wednesday afternoon & I still don’t know to this day why we played on a Wednesday afternoon in March, I remember sitting in the main stand when just before the kick off there was a bomb scare in the ground every one had to look under their seats I remember my brother being so scared and wanting to go home I’m glad we did’nt we won the game 2-0 with the legend himself king colin scoring both goals with his head.Special memories never forgotten.

There was a guy waving his crutches in front of me, the game was against Derby County with Brian Clough in charge and we stood in the newly6 opened North stand.

One of my first matches was v Derby County. FRANNIES return to Miane Road. I’d been ill with tonsilitis and my dad took me. We were in the Platt Lane Stand and Franny was a hero of mine. The goal he scored was brilliant but it broke my heart

I will never forget my first trip to Maine Rd – an evening mid week fixture in the old UEFA cup and the opponents the mighty AC Milan.
I can still remember the anticipation and butterflies I had as I climbed the last steps to to the stand where I would eventually take my place. But as I reached the top and caught the first glimpse of the hallowed turf, the lights, colour, noise and excitement hit me. I knew I was at my rightful home – wow!
The atmosphere was electric, the singing, the slick football, the happiness – it was some concoction.A good City team played some great football and they added to what was an unforgettable evening.
I think it was 2-2 from the first leg and the result of the game I watched was by the way 3-0! But that didn’t matter – I was spellbound by the experience which has stayed with me ever since.
It is something I am looking forward to sharing with my young twin boys who as soon as they are old enough (almost 2 now) will have the privilege of enjoying that ‘first game’ experience.

City took hold of me that day and ever since – City til I die.

My first City game was in 1977 Monday 26/12/1977 city 4 newcastle 0 I first became interested in city when I worked for Colin Bell at his restaurant in Whitefield, hence my son became interested too and wanted a city strip, I bought him the strip for xmas and told him I would take to the next home match if I wasnt working that day,of course the next home match was the following day Boxing day so I had to take him, Colin Bell came on for the second half after being out injured, and the crowd went mad, I had tears in my eyes and from then on I was hooked. I now take my Grandchildren.

My dad allowed me and my sister to travel from Carlisle on the train to watch City V Liverpool on Easter Monday 1976. We had to ask a policeman how to get to the ground and we caught the 77 bus. Once at the ground we spent a fortune in the club shop! We sat in the main stand next to Platt Lane and watched as we got soundly beaten 3-0. However this did not diminish my love of City and many years on I am still a Season ticket holder travelling down from Carlisle for every game.

My 1st game was City v Notts Forest we had traveled from Carlisle on the train arrived in Manchester only to find out the buses were on strike so had to walk there and back from maine road the match was a dreadful 0-0 so that was me hooked to City saying it can only get better

My 1st Game was when I was 9 years old. City beat Spurs 4-0. It was an early season game on the 28/0/1971 and I still wore short pants. The line up was legendary: Corrigan;Jeffries;Connor; Doyle;Booth;Bell;Summerbee;
Heslop;Davies;Lee;Mellor.
The opposition were not bad either; Pat Jennings;Joe Kinnear;Alan Mullery;Mike England;Steve Perryman;Martin Chivers;Martin Peters; & Ralph Coates. Glory Days indeed.

i was eight years old and so excited about going to see my beloved blues that i threw up on the coach on the way to maine road,one of the lads said its usually after the result hes sick!the smell of hotdogs an the roar from the kippax made me feel better an that day maine road became my second home!

my first game was 1979 3rd round of the f.a cup, we played halifax at home, peter barnes was on the front cover of the programme dressed as father christmas. what a buzz as a 9 yr old felt so small in the big crowd. we drew the game and i think we lost the away tie cant remember excactly
