I was nine approaching ten and was taken to the CITY, Sheff United game by my father.
We won 2.0 and I remember sitting on the cold wooden seats of Platt Lane behind the goal, drinking hot chocolate from his flask and eating meat spread butties.
I couldn’t believe that we were watching the actual same players I saw on Match of the Day!
My father has since sadly passed away, but I’ll always have the memory that day.
Always
Go-on-the-blues I can still here him shout when I take my boys.

First game was when I was eight years old. My Dad had said he’d take me to the game if I scored for my cub scout team that morning; my cousin was in goal for the opposition. I scored twice – which I think was the only time I bagged a brace!
My grandad worked for GM Buses in Moss Side and remember we parked in the bus garage before walking to the ground. The sensation when we walked up the staps in the corner of the kippax was fantastic. We were in the open air corner and I sat up on the wall behind my Dad – remember feeling scared when he left me and went off at half time to buy a drink.
We won – can’t remember the score – but was incredibly excited when we went to meet my Mum afterwards. Mum worked in C&A and we went for a meal in the Berni Inn nearby – think it was called the Hole in the Wall or Place in the Wall – on Churh Street near Afflecks Palace.
Great memories.

When i was 7 years old i went to the local sports shop in Norwich and picked out my first kit ,city home, with red and white stripe across the striking royal blue. This started the wonderful but traumatic journey from my first game, Norwich away 22/12/75 . I can clearly remember an exciting 2-2 draw with my hero Dennis Tueart scoring right in front of where i was standing and the dulcet tones of Helen’s bell ringing in me and my dad’s ears. I was hooked, i now travel the 200 miles every home game and to most away games to see my beloved City 37 years on from that first shirt.

I remember my dad parking the car and walking towards the floodlights, my dad putting me in the kids queue for the Platt Lane end, the queue was much shorter than the dads, standing and waiting on the other side of the turnstyles as dad had instructed, waiting as hundreds of men with magnum style moustaches passed me, everyone looking like my dad, finally he came through and held my hand again, 10p for a programme, walkg through the tunnel in the corner and entering gods own arena for the first time, the Kippax packed, the small of piped tobacco, coloured wooden benches and dads vegatable soup at half time, full time and 6-0 to my new blue heroes, a life long love affair had begun, thank you Dad

I watched my first City game on norwegian TV in 1975. City in their beautiful skyblue shirts won 4-0 against Wolves. I was eight years old and had found my favourite club.

Saturday 29 March 1975 Wolverhampton Wanders v Manchester City 1:0
My very first away game was a trip to Molineux to watch the side that I had supported since 1967-8 season. I attended the game with the Westbrook family (Who were Wolves fans) and their son and I took two wooden Ansells beer crates along to stand on to watch the match. We arrived early and meet some othe friends and us boys waited for the home team to arrive. I managed to get Derek Dougan’s and Willie Carr signatures on my programme. However that year my heart stopped when my star player Mike Summerbee left for Burnley. Colin Bell was my backstop as one of the greatest players that ever lived.

The sky was grey and it rained throughout the game. But none of this mattered because a 12 year old boy called Paul Cooper was watching his first ever City game. Shaking with anticiapation and expectation and clinging onto my programme I watched my beloved City win 4-0 against Newcatle United on Saturday 12th August 1975. My most vivid memeory was the rain, the noise of the Maine Road crowd, the smell of cigars which made the whole day seem like a special occasion, the contasting brilliant colors of City’s sky blue shirts and the green pitch against the grey clouds of Manchester and my very first programme which I tried to protect from the rain; and like my love of City I shall cherish it till the day I die. I will forward image separately

i was 7 years old and had been to many city games before with my uncle lennie but this game i can clearly remember maybe it was we were taking my kid brother who would have been 4 years old at the time for his first game.Birmingham city were our oposition that day i remember it being a damp cold novembers day but that doesn`t dampen your enthusiam for watching the blues, we had seats in the north stand and our kid was blown away with all the noise and the size of the pitch. the game sticks with me because of colin bell who on this cold day was the only player wearing long sleeves, he controlled the game from the centre of the pitch with no one getting near him on that muddy surface. that day city ran out 2-0 winners with the king getting both the goals . when the first one went in our kid covered his ears and fell down the back of his chair because of the increase in volume but another true fan was brought into the fold that day.
