I was born in to a Blue Family and my first City game was in 1951, when I was 5. My Grandpa and I took the bus from Withington. I had to go in, on my own, through the Ladies and Boys turnstile, and wait inside for what seemed an awfully long time until he came to collect me from his entrance. He sat me on top of an iron barrier so I could see and I have never forgotten that day.

20th December 1951. My father took me to Maine Roead to see City play Stoke City. He took me into the main stand (which was the only covered and seated area at that time.I was hooked for life. The game wasn’t memorable only for Bert Trautmann being in goal. City lost 1-0, my father teased me that he wouldn’t take me again, but he took me many times

I guess early 50’s. My Dad’s mate was from Huddersfield, my Dad had a car. We drove from Stalybridge to watch Don Revie was playing. And it was in colour!
Thank you God that my Dad was CITY.
