My first game was city vs Macclesfield away in division two. City were wearing the yellow and black away kit made famous for the play off final victory against Gillingham.
My Dad took me to the game, i was thirteen. I remember standing in the mud cheering on city. The game finished 1-0 to city with Shaun Goater scoring the winner.

Watching Grandstand the Saturday we had our FA Cup quarter-final with Spurs, in 1969, I have an abiding memory that has stuck with me that they gave the wrong scoreflash at some point that said Spurs were 1-0 up. They corrected it a few minutes later to say that City were actually 1-0 up but during those few minutes I was very morose.
Did this actually happen??!!!

My first game was against blackpool at home when i was 7 years old . I went with my mum and was sat on the front row of the east stand at maine road and we won three nil thanks to a shaun goater hat trick . I went to a few more games that season and i knew i would be a city fan for life . We was then promoted to the old division 1 as we beat gillingham in the play off final at wembley that year and that was when i got my first city season ticket and have had one ever since .

I had to wait until I was 7 for my first trip to Maine Road. I say that because although I was young, I can remember waving my dad, uncle and grandad off to games wondering when I would get my chance to go. I still remember a few days before, bouncing up and down when my dad asked me if I wanted to go to watch City. Within minutes Adrian Heath flashed a through ball past the keeper of his former team. Then an hour of tension.. waiting. For better or worse, I was hooked.

This wasnt my first city game but it was my first city away game. It was Amazing. it was a away at spurs in the FA cup replay and we were 3-0 down at half time and to make it worse Joey Barton got sent off. At the start of the second half my brother asked if i wanted to go but i knew something great was going to happen. When John Macken got the winner in the last minuet. IT WAS AWESOME. We had completed the greatest come back in history of the FA cup.

Unfortunately my dad cannot be here to tell you about his early experiences at Maine Road. So i will try.
The first match was in the 1927 as a young lad of 11 years old. He had no money so he sneaked in under the turnstiles, other games he would wait and sneaked in at 3/4 time.always walking from and to Blackley.
Something he did regular until 1930 when he started work. He went to Wembley in 1933 and made the last visit to wembley in 1976.
thanks dad for making me a blue.
and it’s ok, i DO forgive you.
