I was 9 years old and we went down on the train from Carlisle. We had great seats in the main stand not far from the directors box. We played Tottenham Hotspur and we won 5-2 – I thought all football matches were as good as this – how wrong I was! But the excitement I got from this game has never gone. I am emigrating to Canada in February but a part of City will be going with me

My first City game was on 1st February 1992.

I woke up on the morning of the game full of excitement only to find that the house had been burgled! Gone was the television, gone was the VCR (no DVDs in those days!), but most importantly, gone was my Dad’s wallet with the tickets inside!!

I was naturally distraught, so my Dad raced down to Maine Road to see what could be done. My Dad explained the situation to the ticket office who were more than happy to print replacement tickets. It was a kind gesture and my first experience of the values the club has always held.

City won the game 1-0 with a rocket into the roof of the net by David White and the rest is history!

I have many matches to choose from but one of my favourites was when the supporters club that I helped run,Forth Valley (Scotland),made our first visit to Maine Road on 16th Dec 1998. City were playing Fulham and we were in the Silver Suite at the top of the Kippax. It finished 4-0 to City and much champagne and other beverages were drunk, but as I was also the coach driver I had to settle for orange squash. A fantastic day was had by all though.

First game was City v Bury 1963, when Colin Bell made debut for Bury.As a 9 year old, I remember standing on a little fishing stool in the Scoreboard end.Harry Dowd (injured a finger and as no subs swopped with Matt Gray)Harry scored a goal and I fell off my stool – I was “hooked” for life!

My 1st game was City v Notts Forest we had traveled from Carlisle on the train arrived in Manchester only to find out the buses were on strike so had to walk there and back from maine road the match was a dreadful 0-0 so that was me hooked to City saying it can only get better

in 1963 my subbuteo City were world beaters, conquering real madrid, ac milan, estudiaties, river plate. City never lost in my fantasy world!!
I was eight, a school friend invited me on a birthday treat to see city vs burnley, a wet cold floodlit night match. City lost 5-2 and went on to get relegated that year! it was typical city in the real world but it was amazing and i was hooked!! 48 years on and reality and fantasy have merged into one!!!

My first city game was when i was 8 and my dad took me to Maine Road to see city play against Coventry in the fourth round of the FA Cup. I don’t really remember that much about the match apart from a 90 minute goal by Shaun Goater who at the time was my favourite my player. CTID

City v charlton started at 3:00 the thing i most remember was the singing and the big banana’s we won 1 – 0. After the game all you could here was – hark now here the city sing united ran away…
