I am 42 and have been a life long fan supporting City. My first time watching City was this year as a birthday present from my wife, my birthday is on Sept 11. The game was Sat 12 Sep 15:00 Home Arsenal Barclays Premier League Won 4 2. It was an important game for the 2 former Arsenal boys and all the hipe was arround Emmanuel Adebayor. There was every thing in the game, Arsenal was on top for the first 10 min, then the game erupted, goals, pefect football, concrovercy and “that run”. I comented to my wife “look, look” what Adebayor is doing he is letting go all of his emotion.
What a first game, against an old club and a birthday present.

The 1st time I witnessed city play i was 7 years old. I was watching the 1999 playoff final. During the end of the game my dad thought it was all over but my mum said ‘just wait until the final whistle’ my dad ignored her and we left, we just came out of the ground and there was a huge cheer around the ground we didnt know what was going on so we tried getting back in but the stewards wouldnt let us so we found the nearest tv which was lucklily just outside the stadium and my dad and I cheered like mad. We watched the rest of the match on the tv, when we won the playoffs my mum said to my dad “told you so”

My first visit to a City game was when my loving husband bought me tickets for the Play off against Gillingham on the 30th May, 1999. Why did he buy me tickets ? Because it was our anniversary and he needed to be there and and with me !. Amused, I was not , I did not do football in any shape or form. Reluctantly I went to London under the bribary of shoe shopping if I did the football. WE arrived at the old Wembley stadium and the crowd were alive, I had never experienced an atmosphere like it. Still football did not excite me.
As the game progressed and the first half remained goaless, I soon found myself joining the avid fans sat on the end of my seat and biting my nails(~ manicured of course~).
In the 81st minute when Gillingham took the lead, I felt the dissapointment that could lay ahead and as the game progressed the dismay deepened I felt the emotion and found myself crying as we faced relegation. But I soon understood the statement not over till the fat lady sings as I saw City turn the game around in a nail biting finale.
This experience for me was the best anniversary present I could have wished for and has secured a now , life long passion for football, seeing my Saturday afternoons take a turn off the high street and into the Stadium to watch the best football team in the world x Who needs Jimmy choo when you ve got City xx

First game was when I was eight years old. My Dad had said he’d take me to the game if I scored for my cub scout team that morning; my cousin was in goal for the opposition. I scored twice – which I think was the only time I bagged a brace!
My grandad worked for GM Buses in Moss Side and remember we parked in the bus garage before walking to the ground. The sensation when we walked up the staps in the corner of the kippax was fantastic. We were in the open air corner and I sat up on the wall behind my Dad – remember feeling scared when he left me and went off at half time to buy a drink.
We won – can’t remember the score – but was incredibly excited when we went to meet my Mum afterwards. Mum worked in C&A and we went for a meal in the Berni Inn nearby – think it was called the Hole in the Wall or Place in the Wall – on Churh Street near Afflecks Palace.
Great memories.

As a life long Swindon Town supporter my first game at City was on 27 August 1997 as an away supporter. By the time City had scored their sixth, with one from former idol, Kevin Horlock,I was hooked and had decided to seek to move to the area.
Now over 60, the 470 mile round trip is always a pleasure to support City in such exciting times.

I had already seen City play in the pre-season cup at Ibrox, against Southampton.
My first game at Maine Road later the same year ( 1977 ).
It was 10th October 1977.
My and myself left home ( Ayr, Scotland ) at 7.30am on the morning of the match. We headed to Manchester via Glasgow and Preston. Arriving at Victoria Station in Manchester, we had no idea how to get to Maine Road. After getting a bit of advice from the locals, we arrived safely at Maine Road – what about a ticket ???
We finally overcame this hurdle, and entered the Stadium for the first time. Sat in the old wooden seats in the Platt Lane Stand, we were just in time to see Peter Barnes scoring the first goal in a 2-1 victory.
The return journey was every bit as adventurous, and were home before midnight.
Needles-to-say, my trips to games are a bit more sedate, but it would take a lot to beat MY FIRST CITY GAME !!!!

the recent fa cup 4th round draw reminded me of my son`s
1st game , which i thought id share .. back in 2006 I had been fortunate to previously enjoy hospitality at both Maine road and Eastlands, but my son JACK (7 at the time ) had never been to a game (any game ) , when scunthorpe where drawn away to city , as a city fan i decided that would be the game his first game ,scuinthorpe are 10 mins up the road to us. knowing what a great crowd and warm welcome and hospitality we would enjoy off we set from Epworth just outside of scunthorpe, on a very cold icy january morning On arriving at eastland`s i showed my naivity and asked for family enclosure seats! urh urh! the young lad in the ticket booth pointing to the home fan only poster and remarking on my yorkshire twang , suggested we sat in the colin bell stand , all calm at this point that is untill kick off time when the stadium filled up and with a roar we`re off, all untill Scunthorpe (andy keog) scored ! well Jack jumped out of his seat and cheered, the atmosphere changed and was decidibly icy , almost apologetic i explained it was his first game every mindfull of my yorkshire twang.. at this point i would like to thank mr Robbie Fowler, as he then went on to score a fantastic hatrick and I can assure you I`ve never celebrated any goal(s) so enthusiastically !!
i can honestly say despite the looks and the comments it was a fantastic match , city winning 3-1 , thankfully Jack changed his alledgencies (your allowed to at 7) and we re both now CITD !! thanks Robbie !

My first game was in the late 80s aginst Stoke City and we won 2-1. On entering the Kippax St I instantly fell in love with the place. The camaraderie, atmosphere, freedom of movement and freedom of speech. The largest standing stand in Briatin, the cage under the same roof, the away fans 10ft away – all brilliant. I’ve been a season ticket holder for the last 20 years now and am looking forward to another 50 years all being well. RIP Kippax St – your soul remains alive while those of us who were part of you live on! CITD
