Hi my name is Paul.My first city game came against middlesborough on Febuary 7th 2009. I’m Flew over Fiday from Limerick in Ireland with my father. We met my uncle in Manchester and then went to the game. It was freezing watching the game but the experience was absolutely unreal.I had front row seats on the halfway line and i felt like i was part of the game. When Craig Bellamy scored the buzz in the stadium was electric. We won 1-0 and Shay Given got man of the match on his debut.I am very grateful my father for that weekend, I will never forget it. Now and always a TRUE BLUE!!!!

My first home game experience for Manchester City was the game where City played Plymouth Argyle (I can’t remember if it was the cup or league game that I attended). It was my first taste of a manchester city game with my father & I remember it was a great atmosphere to the game – the club had just brought about the ‘banana craze’ – I think I still have mine somewhere!
It was such a special occassion as it started my love affair with the club – it was also the beginning of Howard Kendall’s managerial reign at City. There have been so many good memories of supporting city – Francis Lee’s takeover, the red devils’ airplane ddisplay, facing Gillingham in the division 2 playoff final at wembley – I could go on!

I was 5 when my Dad took me to Maine Road for the first time (The ‘ballet on ice’ against Spurs in 1967).
The everlasting memories from that game was the magnitude of the ground, the incredible noise, the crowd and how easy it was to blister your mouth on a cup of Bovril!

I had just moved to greater Manchester, and travelled to work everyday past the staduim, so really wanted to go to a match. For a treat for my dads birthday I decided to take him.
The game we went to was Man city vs. stoke. Where we got to see Robinho’s treble! I love the atmosphere and enjoyed every single minute-It was mega!!
I now follow Man city games, even travelled to Middlesbrough to see them play.

Hi,
My name is Thomas. I wanted to write to you about my first ever MANCHESTER CITY game.
It was at the City Of Manchester Stadium I thought it was beautiful I this was all two seasons ago.
The match was MANCHESTER CITY vs Reading o.k. we lost but the experience I will never forget it was magical.
The crackling atmosphere of the crowd was great
I went with my Uncle Auntie and Grandma I know they also enjoyed it I have been to plenty of other Man City matches and they have all been a magical time.
I hope I will be going to plenty more Man City matches to have another great time.
One more thing CITY TILL I DIE
Thanks Thomas

My life started at the age of five, this was the time I attended my first ever match… and what a day. As soon I entered Maine Road with my dad on that cold windy day I was hooked. By now the result and apposition may no longer be a memory of mine, but that day I sat opposite the Kippax and I felt the buzz as they released their mighty roar and that will never be forgotten that noise that feeling will be with me all my life.
Three years ago my father died, this meant that I was unable to attend matches anymore, I was left fatherless and in some sense homeless. But now that I’m older I get the train into Manchester and attend every game without fault. When I sit there watching my beloved team I know my dad would be proud.
So was that first game the day I became a city fan? No, because as my dad once told me “you don’t choose to be city fan you’re born a city fan”. And I for one was born a blue.

My dad was on short time in the early 70s and couldn’t afford to take his football-mad son to a football match. Fortunately, my best mate and his dad were regulars at City. They took me to the first game of the 73/74 season against Birmingham. Sat on the wheel arch in the back of a Servis van with no windows, there was great anticipation during the journey. I remember noticing the huge crowds and my first sight of the stadium was fantastic. We sat in the Platt Lane Stand – purple seats with painted white dividers to identify your seat. I don’t remember the game too much but I know we won. I was hooked and always looked forward to the next games. The season is notorious for our part in United’s relegation (and why not?) but for me it was the start of a long and loving relationship that is a strong as ever today.

I was 12 years old, and went to see City v Wolves at Maine Road (6th March 1971).
I went with a couple of older boys (Keith Tattersall)also from Woodhouse Park on the 100 bus.
Incredibly for that era, the game itself finished 0-0 and I can remember nothing of it other than standing at the bottom of the Kippax by the wall right next to the Platt Lane stand. The player who made a lasting impression on me was Wolves centre forward Derek Dougan because he had shaved his head Kojak style as some sort of publicity stunt and that had been headline news at the time.
Despite it being a nil nil I was hooked. Hearing that I had gone to Maine Road, my brother in law who was a Utd fan panicked and forced me to go to OT with him and watch them thump someone 4-0. It was all in vain though because I was back at Maine Road for the next home game and never again set foot inside of OT apart from on Derby day’s.
Footnote: I now live in Aylesbury and took my 14 year old son Marcus to his first City game this season, yes you’ve guessed it v Forest!!! Despite that he is hooked and wants more so he’s made of the right stuff.
