City v Liverpool what a dream for your first match – but at aged 4 life was not just about football. Having spent the whole game kicking dust through a hole in the wooden floor of the Platt Lane Stand and seeing City lose 1-0 my Dad (a Burnley fan) said he wouldn’t take me again – but he did and I was hooked. Thanks Dad!

I was an avid man united supporter. my uncle bought me a season ticket every year from age seven to 14. In 1979 my latest boyfriend was a City fan and begged me to come to a game. The next match was v Liverpool and I couldn’t think of anything better than to see them get whooped by City. I arrived at Maine Rd and was amazed at the atmosphere it was electric and something I had never noticed at Old Trafford. I was hooked from then on and changed sides. My kids were brought up in the South but they are Blues. We are now back in the North and we’re City til we die

I was invited to my first city match by a friend of my Dad’s. The match in question was a Saturday in September ‘88 I think, v Walsall, the match after Oldham had thumped us 4-1 at the start of what proved to be an unforgettable promotion season.
I recall vividly pulling up along one of the terraced streets behind a huge shed known simply as the ‘Kippax’. Despite the relative gloom surrounding football and City at the time, I could sense the tangible excitement drifting on a breeze of fried onions and barely edible burgers from the many independent food vans.
I recall my Dad’s mate paying about £3 for me to enter the perimeter wall and advising me on how to carefully manouver through the heavy turnstiles. Finally I was in. At last!
As I was led through the huge tunnel I can clearly remember the awesome sight of the barrelled roof over the Maine Stand, before gazing down onto the most magnificent green I had ever seen. With each descending step towards the perimieter fence, the green became brighter, the heroes warming up became larger, more recognisible, from Lake to McNabb and Moulden.
I stood holding onto the cold metal railings for the whole match, inbetween celebrating a couple of city goals in a 2-2 draw (I think).
As the whistle blew for fulltime I knew Saturdays (Sundays, Wednesdays and subsequently Monday nights) would never be the same again. I knew I had found a new home. Maine Road RIP

I was never really into football when I was at school, but at Uni I got into it through some friends who are City fans. They had a spare ticket for the play-off final in May 99 and I couldn’t resist when they offered it to me – a trip to Wembley for my first game! I wore my new City shirt with pride and outside the ground I bought one of those big polystyrene hands to cheer on Andy Morrison (he was my fav player), Weaver, Dickov and the boys! After that game (what a comeback!) I was hooked and started to go to games more regularly. Soon Tiatto became my favourite player and I got his name on my shirt when I went travelling around Australia! I don’t go as much these days as I live in London but I always make it back for the big games (when the missus lets me!) – especially when we play United!

I was 9 years old (I’m now…older, work it out yourself!) but I have many memories of my first ever match, against Spurs at Maine road in 1967 (THE season for most living City fans) First of all the snow. We came out of our gate on Yew tree Rd and the puppy we’d just got ran out into the ice and snow(and crowds massing down the road) we managed to get him back inside and I walked with my dad to the ground. I have to admit I don’t remember entering the ground but I do remember the smell, the smoke! My overiding memory – and what’s stayed with me ever since – was the excitement, the sound of the crowd and watching what was – and obviously I didn’t realise it at the time – probably the greatest football match I’ve ever seen, City one down at half time and winning 4-1, that on a sheet of snow that footballer’s these days wouldn’t even walk out on! Summerbee, Bell and Franny Lee – amazing isn’t it how spoilt we were! Of course I was hooked and have been a lifelong fan.

The Marriage
I had been with my then girlfriend for sometime and I was always trying to convince her to come to Maine road and watch the blues, when at last she agreed so I booked our tickets in the Plat Lane stand to see City take on Huddersfield on 7th November 1987.
What a game we scored 10 goals and in between the kissing we saw three hatricks from Paul Stewart, Tony Adcock & David White. Since our first game together we are now married and have three wonderful blues to add to the ranks of the blue mooners!

Dear M.C.F.C.(especially keith curle)
On saturday 14th of Febuary I was standing at the supermarket checkout in Slough. I was trying to persuade my grandad to by me a football I had found where the baskets are stored. He was being reluctant.A man at the checkout next to me was watching. My grandad noticed him whispering to himself “go on buy it buy it for him.”
My grandad was still a bit slow because he was already packing the shopping. Then, the man looked at me and said”throw it to me”which i did.Next thing i knew the man gave me the ball and the receipt, pointed to my man city shirt, and said”my brother is keith curle and he used to be captain of man city.”He then said “all you need to do now is get into the team”I cant believe how lucky i was
