I was born in may 1940. Dad was back from the war..he was in the RAMC (medical corps) so wasn’t demobbed until 1946.
His business had failed during the war so he bought into a shop at Withington with my Auntie Minnie. Her and Mum ran it,Dad joined the Ministry of Food. One day my brother Brian(5yrs older)told me City had been promoted to the 1st division and we would go and watch them next year. We walked to the match down Platt Lane..sorry don’t recall who it was against or the exact date in 1947 but I remember Eric Westwood at left back..why him I don’t know! We drew..thats all I can remember.
BUT from playing on the local “rec” with pals at every spare minute..I became – and still am 61yrs later – hooked on soccer, the “blues” and a United “hater”!. Since then I have followed City everywhere..”head down Nobby” (Roy Clarke – a Withington neighbour) got 3 season tickets for Dad,Brian and I – we had to give them up – each at different times and for different reasons – thro neccessity and only after many, many years. I then stood on the terraces..and honestly enjoyed it more!Brian lives in Essex but he and Dad – I’m sure (up there somewhere)still follow the Blues.
However, as I am now retired and live in the Isle of Man (moved there with my job – not as a tax exile!)I cannot really justify the cost of going to watch City..Its my ambition to get to Easlands – I haven’t been yet.. before I turn my toes up! I will make it!!. What will the future hold for the great unpredictables? they have caused me more enjoyment and heartache than..well anything else! But come on City ..give Mark a chance..HE NEVER showed that arrogance and pettiness so typical of most Untd players over the years. Don’t let this wonderful opportunity pass..we are rich but maybe our wonderful pedigree is more importent, don’t lose the true “blue”. Finally lets hammer Untd at “old trafford” – I refuse to call it anyhting else!.
Sorry I have gone on..but I hope I live long enough to see us back on top..in style..the way we won the league that night at Newcastle..where we belong.Unfortunately my son supports Liverpool 1st but City 2nd!

i was 7 years old and had been to many city games before with my uncle lennie but this game i can clearly remember maybe it was we were taking my kid brother who would have been 4 years old at the time for his first game.Birmingham city were our oposition that day i remember it being a damp cold novembers day but that doesn`t dampen your enthusiam for watching the blues, we had seats in the north stand and our kid was blown away with all the noise and the size of the pitch. the game sticks with me because of colin bell who on this cold day was the only player wearing long sleeves, he controlled the game from the centre of the pitch with no one getting near him on that muddy surface. that day city ran out 2-0 winners with the king getting both the goals . when the first one went in our kid covered his ears and fell down the back of his chair because of the increase in volume but another true fan was brought into the fold that day.

My 1st game was city v derby in april 1991, what a quality day. I was a 10 year old boy coming from a family of utd fans, and always havick the mick taken out of me by my friends for being a city fan. There was just my grandad and i supporting city, We started out in plenty of time from my grandads house in shropshire , with a box full of honey sandwiches , but the time we got to the ground all were gone , an i was getting very nervouse , he mannaged to buy to tickets in the family stand , all i can remember are all the inflatable bannana`s across in the kippax. and witnessing city romp to a 5-1 win and also see the great niall quin go into goal and save a penalty . !!! what a 1st game and what a memorey .

In February 1982 I was taken to Old Trafford by my now husband who has only visited Old Trafford on this one occasion. He has been a season ticket holder at Manchester City for over 30 years. He took me because it was not long after we had met and at the time I was (dare I say it) an armchair red. It ended in a 1-1 draw and the tension was incredible. From that moment on I knew if my relationship with him was to blossom then something had to give. I became a blue from then onwards and have held my season ticket since 1983. I don’t have one ounce of regret. We were married in 1985 and our son, who was born in 1988, also holds a season ticket.
We love you City we do!

I am 51 yrs old from originally Worcestershire now living in Aylesbury. I have been a City fan from the age of 9. I have been to several matches in the past but dont have many chances to see the City. i have been with my 2nd wife for the past 16yrs but only married her in March 2003. She is a Baggie fan and for a treat i took her to a one of the last matches at Maine road where she sat and watched the match US v WBA from the make shift stand made from scaffolding, I remember it being a freezeing cold day, the wife was happy cause her team won.
Now for the spooky thing but true. We visited some friends last week 17/18th January 2009 back up in the midlands we had’nt seen them for 13 months and stayed over. On the Sunday 18th we went to Bescot Market which is held at Walsall F C football ground. Whilst walking round the stalls donning my new Man City coat one marketeer said to me Arh a Man City supporter I;ve got just the thing for you, thinking it might be a cheap City shirt he pull out a box with MCFC motif on, inside was a sheet off paper with ex city players signatures on a photo of Maine Road ground and a book full of photos from the final season 2002/2003 played at Maine road, he told me that the selling price for this was originally £120.00 he had been selling them for £40.00, he let me have it for a fiver. I bought it. On the way back I was flicking through the book and noticed on one of the photos God and behold was My wife and me sat in the make shift stand.
It was if that book was destin to come to me.

My dad took me to my first City game in 1978 when I was 5. Dont remember the game much, although my fave at the time Mick Channon grabbed two, in a 2-2 draw. Colin Bell was also playing post injury. Didnt see much as I forgot my (national health obviously) specs so the pitch was just a blur. Remember the amazing flood lights and the roar of the kippax. Remember the flask of bovril and munching away wagon wheels (I think my dad had a pint). Remember feeling miffed that the maine stand had lovely looking blue seats and we were sat on Benches in the Platt Lane end. Think it was foggy too but that may have been down to my poor eyesight. Remember for ever trying to drive away from the ground along with seemingly 400000 other people. We parked near the toastrack building near plattfields (we dropped my mam off, so she could cut an old dears hair near there)
Loved it and went twice more before the end of the season. It would be 2 years before the next game and first game I saw us win. Southampton at home 3:0. My dad took me because Keegan was playing for them and there was a lot of build up to the game (I think hed just come back from Hamburg)
Maine Road has loads of memories but have neither time nor talent to portray them in an interesting fashion!!

I am 4 1/2 and went to my first game with my Daddy. It was January 2009 against Wigan. I was so excited on the way to the match and saw other boys and girls with their Daddy’s going too. We sat really high up and could see cars on the road. We had some food and drink at half time and I shouted and shouted, then we scored the noise was amazing! We won the game 1-0 and then my Daddy took me to the shop. He bought me 2 new t-shirts and a teddy bear which I named “Blue”. I put my t-shirt straight on and ask Daddy if I could come again!
