My first City game was against Southampton. I think it was September 1990 and it was a draw. Being a fifth generation City fan, I was never going to be anything else!!! It was my first year at high school that year too and the school did a draw for free tickets to the match. I was one of the lucky ones and went along with my family. We sat in the Platt Lane stand at Maine Road. It was still the old benches in the stand then, before it was demolished and built again. I went to games on and off after that until I finished uni and then I became a season ticket holder when we moved to the stadium. It’s definitely an obsession! I get withdrawal symptoms in the summer when they’re are no games!!!

My fiorst match was at Maine Road and I think it was at the end of the 1947-48 season. It was a rearranged game for one that had been cancelled previously and it was with Bolton Wanderers. Frank Swift was in goal and City won 1-0. It 2ould be good to find out which year I did see my first game. I was taken to see City by Mr. Hampson, a pork butcher from Aston New Road, in Clayton. He has a stunning looking daughter called Jane. City have given me the best and worst days of mt life. It is good to be alive.

One year after the world cup triumph and I was going to my first game with my best friend John Anderson and his Dad. I can remember the excitement of going up the steps leading to the crescent of the scoreboard end, and the anticipation of what was then a 9 year olds dream.
Not wanting to be rude and run up the steps I slowly mounted the top and there my breath was taken away by the green of the pitch ( no colour television It had never occurred to me that a pitch would of course be green) , something my son was to copy some 30 years later. I don’t remember the game at all except that Mike Doyle got two or maybe all three goals on that evening. I don’t really want to check if my memory of who scored is correct. Like longer and warmer summers that’s how I like to remember that result. And at the beginning of the season he turned out to be a defender, if that’s what a defender can do what our attack must be like.
I was and still am hooked

One of my dreams became a reality. On December 5 I went to Cottage for Fulham – Man City which drew 1-1. I am from Bulgaria and I had never been so far in UK at all, so I’ve decided to come to visit my team and to see London.
The atmosphere was tremendous, I met the City fans – it was just incredible to me. Although I was at the game with Fulham fans I was pleased that I attend the game and it was interesting, especially when Benjani opened the score after just 6 minutes – unique and it was right in front of me:) So I will never forget this one and I promise to visit our home, of course.
Otherwise I am City fan since 1995, I’m 28 years old.

My first City game was 30-01-1971 against Leeds United. Coming from a household where my two elder brothers and stepfather were United fans, I had been taken to Old Trafford on a number of occasions without thinking much of it (still don’t, come to that!)
However most of my schoolmates were Blues so I tagged along, not expecting much.
Despite losing 2-0 the atmosphere standing on the Kippax instantly had me hooked.
Being the only Blue in a United household made for an interesting evening 3 years later when Denis Law scored the winner and sent them down! Still one of the greatest days of my life.

My first game. I am not sure if it was 1979. It was a friendly at Somerton Park, Newport, my hometown and I was 8,there with my dad in the cromwell end. I was in awe of Corrigan Ranson etc. I was already a blue and was kitted out in my Asa Hartford shirt. The county beat us 1-0, I’m sure. This was early preparation for the ridicule I was to suffer as a city fan. Who Cares! It is better to have loved and lost…etc. Forever Blue, Tony in Bolton

My Dad decided to take me to the last game of the season in 1991 against Sunderland. A ritual which we repeated for the next 4 years, my dad used to write a letter a month before requesting tickets along with a cheque! A far cry from the current online ticket system – your be pleased to know I buy my dads tickets now!!
Driving up from Shrewsbury my dad explained how important this game was for both sides, if Sunderland lost they got relegated, and if City won we would finish above United. This was quite hard as a 9 year old to comprehend, let alone realise the importance given my allegiance to City.
I can remember the noise each time we scored, and the noise of the Sunderland supporters, who sang incessantly the entire game. At half time my Dad took me to the toilet , where I joined in to what seemed like 500 people singing ‘If you all hate Man United clap your hands’ something which I told all my school mates on Monday morning!.
We won 3-2 with Niall Quinn scoring 2, and David White getting one. Still my favourite game, and will be until next time we are pride of Manchester – which will come!
(In the picture is my fiance, her dad thinks she supports Liverpool!)
