Remember sneaking in at tree quater time. Colin Bell was stretchered off after a terribel clash with Martin Buchan? I then went round to the front of the ground after the game and saw Colin Bell leaving the ground on a strecther and going into an ambulance. The King was never the same again. I will never forget that horrible scene.

The day when luke chadwick and francis jeffers signed for manchester city is a day i’ll remember for the rest of my life, jeffers performance against the kaizer cheifs will no doubt stay in my memory until i die, chadwicks penalty in the 91st minute of the intertoto cup against anorthosis famagusta no doubt equals the feat of the pre-mentioned JEFFERS.

After being brainwashed since I was born by my dad, it took over 15 years before I saw City live for the first time. Mind you living in Australia does make it hard to get to games! Anyway after travelling 20,000km we arrived in Manchester on the morning of the big game. I didn’t know what to expect but everything lived up to my expectations. The ground, the crowd, the shop, the noise, the rival fans, the speed of the game, the result (of course) and Mr Fowler’s celebration in front of the reds. Absolutely brilliant. This will stay with me for the rest of my life. But with every up following City there’s a down, because a few hours after the match I was rushed to hospital to get my appendix out. Dad just shrugged his shoulders and said, “City’ll do that to you”.

The cup replay against Newcastle. I was almost five when he took me to this, my first game. I can still remember the noise of the crowd, the smells and the excitement. Sat right at the back of the main stand, sat next to a strange man in a great coat and bobble hat yelling at the top of his voice, I was fascinated. I can just about remember tiny figures running around on the pitch but nothing else. Mind you this was the perfect match to begin a life in Blue. Three up at halftime, 3-3 at full time. 4-3 up and then losing 4-5. This set the tone for the future and I’ve loved every minute of it though my fingernails haven’t!

On a sunny May afternoon there we was leaving as it as late as possible we had to beat Charlton to win promotion to Div 1. I had already thrown a sicky at work and off I went to Maine Road. City stormed into the lead after only a few mins and I decided in my infinate wisdom as David philips scored the opener at the North stand end to run on the pitch and celebrate forgetting that my manager from work was also a blue and guess what after the game was shown om Match of the day I recieved a call from my supervisor advising me That I had been spotted by my manager! Luckly for me with him being a blue I claimed mistaken identity with a rhy smile

I think it was a belated 9th birthday present. My Brother-in-law Ron took me. Can’t remember how we got there but the first time I saw the green pitch and witnessed the atmosphere, its something that doesn’t ever leave you.. We stood in the stand at the side of the kippax and I remember I couldn’t see so during the match I asked Ron if I could go on his shoulders to which he agreed – probably not a popular decision with people behind us and with hindsight, as a 9year old, I was probably too old to be going on anybody’s shoulders, anyway, after a short time Ron had to put me down because he was feeling dizzy.. Meanwhile on the pitch City were beating Liverpool 3-1 and thanks to “My first City game” I’ve been able to remind myself of two facts which, over time had been somewhat forgotten -A) who the city scorers were; channon, royle and kidd and B) I didn’t know the attendance – 52,000 – All in all it was an unforgettable day. I went on to persuade my brother that blue was the colour and I was proud to take my son to his first game at COMS.

Myself and the family went upto Manchester to visit family we have up their . On the Thursday my Uncle Ziggy , who is a proud city fan and always has been since his early childhood asked me – “Shall I put you down for a ticket ? ”
Obviously I said – ” Yes , Of Corse ” , because I have always wanted to go and watch City play . Myself , Uncle Ziggy & Ant went to the game . Got a balti pie each and a coffee ,the atmosphere beforewe got to our seats was immense . What a fantastic atmosphere and an even more fantastic set of fans .
