My first game was the last game of the 1959-60 season against Burnley. I was 11 years old and cycled from Sale with two older friends, storing our cycles in the back yard of a house on Maine Road.
Burnley won the match and clinched the first division title.
I stood at the front of the old scoreboard end terraces and was over-awed by the size and noise of the crowd.
My hero, Bert Trautmann was in goal for City and I remember Burnley had a blond haired centre forward called Ray Pointer, who was their best player.
