My first game was against Norwich City, I was 6 or 7 so it would have been 1989 or 1990. I went with my dad, my uncle and their friend James. We all lived in Huddersfield but my dad had been taken to watch City by his uncle as a nipper so he and his brother had been blues ever since – there was never a doubt I would end up a blue! We went in the car and we parked on the Curry Mile. I remember feeling people all around me as we walked nearer to the ground. We stood on the Kippax, well, I sat on one of the barriers with the other children. We won the game, 2-1 I think, I remember making a 2-1 gesture through the car window on the way home to some miserable looking Norwich fans and referred to them as ‘Norwich Pity’. I’ve been hooked every since. My dad died 3 years ago but I’ve never stopped coming to the games, even though I now make 230 mile round trips from Scarborough. I’m so glad that he ‘inflicted the curse’ as he called it. Life would be boring without City! RIP ADL CTID.
